SONG/STYLE MODE
Song/Styles are 8 track (max) Songs created
by recording the keyboard sounds with Style ar-
rangements. The chords that trigger the Styles
are captured by the sequencer on a "Chords"
track. Up to 3 keyboard sections can be record-
ed. Song/Styles are excellent providers of back-
ing tracks for singers or solo instruments.
Up to 7 Song/Styles can reside in memory. The
8th location is reserved for the Chain function
which chains the Song/Styles into a "medley".
SONG MODE
A Song is a representation of a multi-timbral per-
formance (16 tracks), as if you were listening to
a full orchestra. WK3 can record, load and play-
back WK3 format songs and Standard MIDI File
format song data recorded with sequencers of
other manufacturers.
Up to 7 Songs can be stored in the WK3 song
memory. The 8th memory location is reserved
for the Song Jukebox function which plays back
all the Songs chained together.
Songs can be recorded using the on-board se-
quencer, or via MIDI with an external sequencer.
Via MIDI, WK3 can be exploited as a 16 part multi-
timbral sound generator, regardless of the cur-
rently selected playing mode.
PERFORMANCE
A Performance is a combination of sounds and
settings that determine how WK3 plays. Perform-
ances can store the current status of the panel
buttons and information pertaining to the parts
that make up a Performance for real time play-
ing, for Styles, Song/Styles or Songs. Perform-
ances memorise effect settings, the status of the
controllers (pedals, trackball), the pads configu-
ration, the MIDI channel configuration, the status
of the tracks (play/mute), the Tempo setting and
more. By recalling a Performance, you can re-
set all the WK3 parameters and functions in a
single step.
Performances are divided into two types: those
residing in the PERFORMANCE GROUPS which
govern the keyboard sounds and Styles, and
those associated to Song/Styles and Songs which
are recalled by selecting the respective element.
Their structure and programming procedures are
practically identical, but each type of Performance
is associated to the specific playing modes.
Default Performances (Real Time)
64 user-programmable Performances are mem-
orised in the PERFORMANCE GROUPS, 32 of
which are factory-programmed. Performances
recall combinations of the keyboard sounds (key-
board modes) as well as memorised panel set-
tings. Given that the Performances store the
current Style, Variation and Tempo at the moment
of pressing the STORE PERF command, the Per-
formances can also be a source of Styles and
Variations. User-programmed Style Performanc-
es can be memorised to the Performance mem-
ory slots.
Style Performance
96 default Performances associated to the Styles
are permanently stored in the STYLE/SONG
GROUPS (8 Beat, 16 Beat, etc.). The default Style
Performances are recalled when Styles are select-
ed with SINGLE TOUCH PLAY on. When off, you
can recall user-programmed Style Performances
by selecting Performances from the PERFORM-
ANCE GROUPS, while selecting Styles recalls
sounds for the auto-accompaniment tracks only.
Style Performances recall sounds for the arrange-
ments and keyboard sections.
