Chapter 4
The following pages provide initial troubleshooting procedures and tables listing specific problems,
probable causes, and recommended actions to take if the computer fails after configuring it or after
installing optional hardware or software.
Refer to the documentation supplied with additional options when experiencing problems with specific
options that have been installed.

Initial Troubleshooting

Follow these general procedures to troubleshoot the Venturis 400, FP400 and 560 computer:
Press [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del]. If the computer fails to boot, turn it off, wait until all hard disk drives
are spun down completely, and then turn it back on.
If the POST detects an error refer to "Troubleshooting" and take the appropriate steps to correct the
problem. After the problem has been resolved, restart the computer.
Run the BIOS Setup utility.
Make sure all necessary changes have been made to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files.
Make sure all necessary video, printer, and application device drivers are properly installed.
Ensure that all cables and connections are secure.
Run the QAPLUS/fe advanced diagnostic software.
If these steps do not identify and/or correct the problem, perform the specific troubleshooting
procedures appropriate to the circumstances.
NOTE
If you need to return a failed component, pack it in its original container and return it
to Digital for service
Fill in the appropriate fields of the Part Exchange Form with the relevant error information!!
