Chapter 1: Getting to Know Your Kindle Touch
Tap here to bring up the Menu at the top of
the screen and the toolbar down at the
bottom. This space is 5" wide and 1.25"
high (13 cm by 3 cm in metric).
Tap in this area to move to the Next
page. On your screen, the size is 3"
wide and 4.75" high (or 7.5 cm by 12
cm in metric).
Tap in the column to the left to
move to the previous page. On your
screen the size is .5" wide and 4.75"
high (or 1 cm by 12 cm in metric).

✓ The largest zone, the central square, is where you
mainly tap. Within an e-book or e-magazine, a quick tap
advances you to the next page. Within an e-book with
chapter navigation enabled, a swipe from top to bottom
in this zone moves you back a chapter; swiping from the
bottom up moves you ahead a chapter.
✓ A tap on the left column zone takes you back one page.
In our experience, the left column is the zone that takes
a bit of getting used to. This zone is only half an inch
wide, which means your tapping has to be precise. That
