Check ignition, pilot stability, burner fl ames, and the full
range of the thermostat using the rotary switch inside
the appliance and the remote control. See the Lighting
Instructions on page 34 of this manual for full details.
Aeration adjustment
As described on page 21, the burner aeration is
adjustable. For the vast majority of installations, no
adjustment will be necessary. However, in a very
few instances, performance may be improved by
adjusting the aeration by sliding the shutter. Evaluate
the aeration only after the unit has warmed up—
approximately 15 minutes.

Remote Control Handset Wall Holder Installation

The remote control kit for this fi replace comes
complete with a wall-mounted holder. This
holder is not required in all installations but
is provided as an optional feature for those
customers who wish to mount the remote
handset to the wall.
To install the holder to the wall, fi nd a
convenient location and use the hardware
provided with the kit. See the diagram on the
right for required hardware and confi gurations.
Note that the holder can be installed at the base
of a light switch plate.
IMPORTANT. The location of the remote
control handset is important to assure proper temperature regulation. To obtain a constant
temperature, we recommend that the handset should be between 3 and 15 feet away from the
appliance but not directly above it. We also advise that the handset should be located away
from any other heat source and not in direct sunlight as this may affect the temperature sensor
located in the remote handset.

Operation Checks

The shutter setting is very sensitive. Small
adjustments can make a substantial difference to
the fl ames. We strongly advise that adjustments be
made in steps of no more than 1/64 inch (0.4 mm).
Increasing aeration will cause the fl ame to appear more
transparent and blue making the ceramic fuel effects
glow more.
Decreasing aeration will cause the fl ames to appear
more yellow or orange making the fuel effects glow
less.
Too little aeration may result in black carbon
forming and dropping into the fi rebox.
