Paper Transport

Fanfold Paper Transport
When the MC receives the print instruction (PRNT signal) from the controller
board and completes paper loading, it sends the image data request signal
(VSYNC signal) to the controller and, at the same time, begins to expose the
drum to the LED array light. The fanfold paper, loaded to the transfer point, is
advanced by the tractor when the drum-exposed surface reaches the toner
transfer point. Then, the paper is carried by the transport belts to the fuser
and finally to the paper output section.
In the fanfold paper mode, the paper transport unit goes up into the upper
position just before the paper leading edge reaches the toner transfer point
and stays there until printing is completed. To prevent loss of data at the
perforation in the fanfold paper mode, the paper transport feed motor runs the
transport belts at a slightly higher speed than the paper feed tractors.

Cut Sheet Paper Transport
In the cut sheet paper mode, the transfer unit goes into the upper position
when the MC receives the print instruction (PRNT signal) from the controller
board and completes drum cleaning. The paper passing through the paper
timing sensor section then travels in front of the pre-drum roller assembly,
runs through the transfer point, rides on the transport belt, moves under the
