Structure of folders and files

You can display the structure of folders
and files of the linear PCM recorder on your
computer by connecting the linear PCM
recorder to your computer. Folders and files
can be displayed by opening "PCMRECORDER"
or "MEMORY CARD" in Explorer on a Windows
computer or Finder on a Mac.
The linear PCM recorder creates two default
folders for each media: the VOICE and MUSIC
folders (shaded in the following structure
illustrations).
Transferring files from your computer to
your linear PCM recorder
Drag the desired file or folder to the VOICE or
MUSIC folder.
It is recommended that you transfer files to
the MUSIC folder, since the VOICE folder is to
save files recorded by the linear PCM recorder.
Tip
To locate files easily, we recommend that you place
files in a folder and transfer the entire folder to the
MUSIC folder. If you transfer a file directly to the MUSIC
folder, it is displayed under "

Drag the desired file or folder from the linear
PCM recorder into a folder on your computer.

Built-in memory

The folders and files in the built-in memory of
the linear PCM recorder are displayed on the
computer screen as shown.
A: Folder containing files recorded using the linear
PCM recorder
B: Folder containing files transferred from your
computer
*1 The VOICE folder contains 5 folders (FOLDER01 to
FOLDER05). Folders and files under the VOICE
folder are displayed within " Recorded File" in the
HOME menu.
*2 You can transfer music folders from your computer
to the MUSIC folder. Folders under the MUSIC folder
are displayed within "
Music" in the HOME menu.
*3 The name of folders in which music files are stored
are displayed unchanged on the linear PCM
recorder, so it is convenient to put an easy-to-
remember name on the folder in advance. Folders
shown in the illustration are examples of folder
names.
*4 The linear PCM recorder can recognize up to 8
levels of folders transferred to the linear PCM
recorder.
*5 If you transfer music files to the root directory, they
are classified as being in "No Folder."
