BASIC OPERATION
■ Volume loud function
The volume loud functon can be actvated temporarly by
pushng [LOUD MUTE].
The functon does not work when the volume level s 31.
q Push [LOUD MUTE] to actvate the volume loud functon.
• The volume level s set to the maxmum level (level 31).
• The bars of the volume level ndcator appears n ascendng
order repeatedly.
w Push [LOUD MUTE] agan, or push [VOL/SQL MONI] to
turn the volume loud functon OFF.
■ Volume mute function
The volume mute functon can be actvated temporarly by
pushng and holdng [LOUD MUTE].
The functon does not work when the volume level s OFF.
q Push and hold [LOUD MUTE] for 1 sec. to actvate the

volume mute functon.

• The volume level s set to the mnmum level (OFF).
• The volume level ndcator blnks.
w Push [LOUD MUTE] agan, or push [VOL/SQL MONI] to
turn the volume mute functon OFF.

■ Adjusting the squelch level
The squelch level can be adjusted wth [VOL/SQL MONI]
and [Y]/[Z].
In order to receve sgnals properly, as well as for the scan
to functon effectvely, the squelch must be adjusted to the
proper level.
q Push [VOL/SQL MONI] twce to enter the squelch adjust-
ment mode, then adjust the squelch level wth [Y]/[Z].
• "SQL" ndcator starts blnkng.
• The transcever has 11 squelch levels: OP s completely open;
10 s tght squelch; 1 s loose squelch.
• Wth no key operaton s performed for 5 sec., the transcever
returns to the normal condton.
w Push [VOL/SQL MONI] agan to ext the squelch adjust-
ment mode.
Blinks while adjusting the squelch level.
Indicates the
squelch level.
