6-23 CHASSIS
● Remove the outer race fitted on the steering
stem. This can be done with a chisel.
● Draw out the two inner races fitted to the top
and bottem ends of the head pipe.
INSPECTION
Inspect and check the removed parts for the fol-
lowing abnormalities.
∙Handlebars distortion.
∙Handlebars clamp wear.
∙Abnormality operation of bearing.
∙Worn or damaged steel balls.
∙Distortion of steering stem.
REASSEMBLY
Reassemble and remount the steering stem in the
reverse order of disassembly and removal, and also
carry out the following steps :
INNER RACES
Press in the upper and lower inner races using the
special tool.
