CAUTION: You should maintain an up-to-date backup of your hard drive at all times in case of errors or failures.
Solving Diskette Drive Problems
Possible Cause
Your computer is writing to the wrong
drive.
Not enough space is left on the
diskette.
Diskette drive is disabled.
Diskette is not formatted or is
formatted incorrectly.
You are using the wrong type of
diskette for the drive.
Diskette was removed while drive light
was on.
Solution
Check your application to see which
drive it is trying to access, then
change the drive letter and/or path if
necessary.
Copy the information onto a diskette
that has more free disk space.
Enable the diskette drive through
Device Manager or through Computer
Setup.
If you are running Windows 98:
1. From the Windows 98 desktop,
double-click My Computer.
2. Click on 3½ Floppy.
3. Click File, then click Format.
4. Fill in the appropriate information,
then click Start.
If you are running Windows NT, format
the diskette by entering format a: at
the system prompt.
Use the correct diskette type. LS-120
disks will not work in a diskette drive.
Diskette or files may be damaged.
Recopy the information onto a new or
reformatted diskette.
