Maximizing Battery Operating Time

Most power is used by the display, the processor, the CD/DVD drive, and the
hard drive components. Your battery operating time changes depending on your
Power Management settings and the system components, options, and
applications you use.
You can increase battery operating time by changing your computer's energy
requirements. To learn about your computer's Power Management features,
refer to the Using Sleep and Power Management section for more information.
To maximize your battery operating time, do one or more of the following:
Reduce display brightness and select a short wait for your screen saver.
Reduce audio volume or use headphones.
Exit modem programs whenever you are not using them.
Remove PC Card(s) when you are not using them.
Use Sleep or Hibernation mode or turn off your computer when you are
not using it.
