Catalyst 4500 Series Switches

The Catalyst 4500 series switches consist of the Catalyst 4503 switch, the Catalyst 4506 switch, the
Catalyst 4507R switch, and the Catalyst 4510R switch. The switches are designed for high-performance,

Catalyst 4500 E-Series Switches

The Catalyst 4500E series switches consist of the Catalyst 4503-E switch, the Catalyst 4506-E switch,
the Catalyst 4507R-E switch, and the Catalyst 4510R-E switch. The switches are designed for
high-performance, high-density wiring closet applications.

Supervisor Engines

Catalyst 4500 E-series switches can use many of the same supervisor engines and switching modules as
the Catalyst 4500 series switches. This section describe the supervisor engine newly available for the
Catalyst 4500 E-series switches or Catalyst 4500 classic switches:

1. A WS-X45-Sup6-E will work in a Catalyst 4500 series classic switch, but will only support 6 Gbps per slot.
