Troubleshooting
System does
not respond
to remote
commands.
Outgoing
announcement is
not clear.
A COVM icon
shows on the
screen display
and I do not
know why.
I cannot retrieve
voicemail
messages.
• Make sure to enter your remote access code correctly
(page 77).
• Make sure you are calling from a touch-tone telephone.
When you dial a number, you should hear tones. If you
hear clicks, the telephone is not a touch-tone telephone
and cannot activate the answering system.
• The answering system may not detect the remote
access code while your announcement is playing. Try
waiting until the announcement is over before entering
the code.
• There may be interference on the telephone line you
are using. Press dial pad keys firmly.
• When you record your announcement, make sure you
speak in a normal tone of voice, about nine inches
from the telephone base.
• Make sure there is no background noise (TV, music, etc.)
while recording.
Your telephone has voicemail indication that is
separate from the built-in answering system. If COVM
icon appears on the display, then your telephone has
received a signal from your telephone service provider.
Contact your telephone service provider for more
information on how to access your voicemail.
Your telephone has both a built-in answering system
and voicemail indication. They are independent
features and each alerts you to new messages
differently (page 66). If you subscribe to voicemail
service from your telephone service provider, contact
your telephone service provider for more information
on how to access your voicemail.
