D Test call
Testing on the exclusive DSC distress and safety calling
channels should be avoided as much as possible by using
other methods. When testing on the distress/safety channel is
unavoidable, it should be indicated that these are test trans-
missions.
Normally the test call would require no further communica-
tions between the two stations involved.
q Push [MENU] to enter the DSC menu.
w Push [s] or [t] to select "TEST CALL," and then push
[ENT].
e Push [Y] or [Z] to select a desired pre-programmed Indi-
vidual address or "MANUAL INPUT," then push [ENT].
• The ID code for the individual can be set in advance. (p. 14)
• When "MANUAL INPUT" is selected, set the 9-digit MMSI ID
code for the individual you wish to call with [Y] or [Z]. (See
About Manual Inputting on page 22.)

r After step e, Channel 70 is automatically selected and
"READY" appears in the channel comment display.
Push
t Push [ENT] to transmit the Test call.
• If Channel 70 is busy, the transceiver stands by until the channel
