STARTING AND STOPPING THE ENGINE

Starting: Open the fuel shut-off valve located between the fuel tank and the
engine. The knob should align with the fuel hose in the open position.
1. Sit on the tractor seat.
2. Ensure that both the cutterdeck and sweeper drive switches are in the 'Off'
position and that the parking brake is engaged.
NOTE: The engine will not start if any of the conditions above are not satis-
fied.
3. Turn the ignition key clockwise and hold it in the 'Start' position. When the
engine starts, release the key.
NOTE: It should only be necessary to use the choke before starting a cold
engine. Before starting a warm engine, position the engine control lever in the
'Fast' position.
Stopping: Move the throttle lever to the 'Slow' position.
IMPORTANT: To prevent backfiring and damage to the engine, do not move the throttle lever to the
'CHOKE' or 'FAST' positions before stopping the engine.
NOTE: If the engine has been working hard let it idle for a minute before turning the ignition key to "Off".

OPERATOR SAFETY SYSTEM

The operator safety system has been designed to prevent the engine from starting unless:
- The operator is sitting on the seat.
- The parking brake is engaged.
- The cutterdeck drive switch is in the 'Off' position.
- The sweeper drive switch is in the 'Off' position.
The operator safety system has been designed to:
- stop the drive to both the cutterdeck and sweeper collector if the operator rises from the tractor seat.
- stop the engine if the operator rises from the tractor seat UNLESS the parking brake is engaged.
WARNING: PREVENT ACCIDENTS - Do not operate the mower if the operator safety system is
defective in any way.
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS replace faulty parts and check that they function correctly before operating the
tractor.
