GRASS CUTTING FAULTS

FAULT
Steps in cut grass height
Uneven/poor cut perfor-
mance.
Scalping.
Areas of uncut grass at
point of overlap between
adjacent blades.
GRASS CUTTING FAULTS
POSSIBLE CAUSE
One end of cutterdeck out of ground contact.
Grass build-up under cutterdeck.
Tyre pressures incorrect.
Undulating ground contours.
Cutterblades worn or damaged.
Cutterblades out of balance.
Cutterdeck gauge wheels damaged.
Inconsistent height of cut settings.
Slow cutterblade rotational speed.
Undulations too severe for height of cut set-
tings.
Turning too tightly
Mower sliding sideways when travelling
across face of slope.

REMEDY
Reset cutterdeck levelling.
Remove grass.
Inflate to correct pressure.
Change direction of cut.
Sharpen or replace as necessary.
Replace as necessary.
Inspect and replace as necessary.
Check and re-adjust height of cut
settings.
Check that engine speed is set to
maximum.
Raise height of cut.
Increase turning radius.
Mow up/down slope.
