3.1. Requirements

This RDK gets its power from the Segger J-Link Lite USB connection or optionally from a regulated 5V power supply.
The optional power jack is a center positive connector using a 2.1 mm barrel.
The RDK is neither under nor over-voltage protected. Use a 5v !REGULATED! center positive supply which can source at
3.2. Power – Up Behavior
When the RDK is purchased it has the 'Release' or stand-alone code from Example #4 pre-programmed into the
Renesas microcontroller. The code exercises the user LEDs, LCD, PWM, ADC, Potentiometer, and Ethernet interfaces.
The LCD powers up with the message: "Micrium", "uC/OS-III", "uC/TCP-IP" message. If the Ethernet interface is active,
and a DHCP server is present, the RDK will receive an IP Address, subnet mask and Gateway address. All will be
displayed on the LCD. If no DHCP server is found, the RDK uses the default settings of:
IP Address = 169.254.24.194
Subnet Mask= 255.255.0.0
Gateway = 0.0.0.0
After acquiring the network address either by the DHCP server or by default, the speed of the motor control LEDs are
under the control of the potentiometer. Turning the potentiometer adjusts the desired frequency of the Motor Control
LEDs. The output frequency is also measured and both are displayed on the bottom of the LCD.
