Horizontal Sanding

Horizontal sanding allows you to sand the flat
surface of a board.
To perform horizontal sanding operations:
1.
Turn the power ON and allow the sander to
reach full speed.
2.
Place the workpiece against the surface of
the sanding belt. Hold the workpiece firmly
with both hands but keep fingers away from
the sanding surface as shown in Figure 21.

3.
Move the workpiece across the surface of
the belt for even belt wear.
4.
Use the back stop to prevent the workpiece
from being thrown off by the rotation of the
sanding belt.
Hold the workpiece firmly when the back-
stop is removed to prevent the workpiece
from being thrown. Keep bystanders
away from the machine while in opera-
tion.
5.
Remove the backstop from the sander if the
workpiece is longer than the sanding bed.
G0547 Combo Sander

Curved Sanding

Inside curves can be sanded using the curved
end of the sanding belt.
To perform curved sanding operations:
1.
Turn the power ON and allow the sander to
reach full speed.
2.
Hold the workpiece against the end of the
sanding belt. Move the workpiece slowly
across the entire surface of the belt as
shown in Figure 22.
