Troubleshooting

If a problem occurs, first refer to this information before you take the device
for repair.
If you are unable to rectify the fault using the information given here, contact
your local dealer or service specialist.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the device yourself, as
this would invalidate the guarantee.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE
GENERAL
No sound. Volume set too low.
Headphones connected.
Batteries flat.
Batteries incorrectly inserted.
Mains cable incorrectly
connected.
The device does not Static electrical discharge.

The remote control Flat batteries.

RADIO
Poor radio reception. Weak radio antenna signal.
Interference from electrical
devices such as televisions,
video recorders, computers,
neon lamps, thermostats or
motors.
TAPE
Poor tape playback Dust and dirt on magnetic
sound quality. heads, capstans or idlers.
No tape recording. Erase protection tab broken off.
CD
Skips CD tracks. The CD is damaged or dirty.
PROGRAM or RANDOM
functions active.

REMEDY
Increase volume.
Disconnect headphones.
Replace batteries.
Insert batteries correctly.
Connect mains cable
correctly.
Switch off device,
disconnect mains cable and
plug it in again after a few
seconds.
Replace batteries.
VHF (FM): tilt and turn
telescopicantenna;
possibly set FM BEAT CUT
switch to;
AM (MW): turn whole
device.
Keep radio recorder away
from electrical devices.
Clean magnetic heads,
capstan and idler.
Close the opening with
adhesive tape.
Replace or clean CD
Switch off PROGRAM or
RANDOM function.
