Connection of the Ethernet Cable
To enable any configuration change and fault monitoring for the disk array unit by the WebSAM NEC
Storage Manager through the Ethernet, the Ethernet cable must be connected.
Installation of the Ethernet cable
Connect the optional shielded Ethernet cable to the Ethernet connector (modular jack) on the controller.
Connect the host system on which the management software WebSAM NEC Storage Manager is
installed to the Ethernet.
Regard as LAN cables for NEC Storage Manager or maintenance PC
•
Use a straight-through Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cable, in the case that the controller and PC
are connected through a hub and so on.

Use crossover STP cable, in case that the controller and PC are connected directly.
Simply connecting the Ethernet cable to the controller will not make it possible to use
the WebSAM NEC Storage Manager through the Ethernet. Refer to the manual that
comes with the software for details on the usage of the WebSAM NEC Storage
Manager.
