Troubleshooting

Refer to this section if you have problems operating your Mobile Navigation System. The most
common problems are listed below, along with likely causes and solutions. While this list is
not comprehensive, it should answer your most pressing problems. If a solution to your
problem cannot be found here, then contact your dealer or the nearest authorised Pioneer
service facility.
You cannot position your car on the map or the positioning error is large.
Possible causes:
Such a loss of signal quality may come about for the following reasons:
• The GPS aerial is in an unsuitable location
• Obstacles are blocking signals from the satellites
• The position of satellites relative to your vehicle is bad
• Signals from the GPS satellites have been modified to reduce accuracy.
(GPS satellites are operated by the US Department of Defence, and the US government reserves the
right to distort positioning data for military reasons. This may lead to greater positioning errors.)
Solutions:
• Check GPS signal reception using "LOCATION STATUS" (see page 108) and the position
of the GPS aerial if necessary, or continue driving until reception improves.
• Check that the cables are properly connected. If necessary, consult with the dealer that
installed the system.
• Check that the main unit is securely mounted and if necessary check with the dealer that
installed the system.
