After you have selected
the manufacturer's
code, turn
the
shuttle
ring right. The cursor will move to "Channeh"
Use the ADJUST
dial to select the channel
on which your
cable box sends a signal to the VCR. I_you connected
your
cable box with audio!video
cables, use. the INPUT
button
to
select "LI" if you connected
them to the rear panel or "L2" if
you connected
them tc, the front panel.

You need to determine
whether
or not you have selected
the
correct "Brand
Code." To do this, pres _ the CHANNEL
buttons
on the remote control.
As you press the buttons,
the
channel
number
on the front of your VCR should change.
Watch your cable box. Your cable box should
show the exact
same number
a moment
after it appears
on your VCR.
If your cable box does not change
channels
at all, or does not
show the exact same number,
do one of the following:
• Try moving the cable box on top of'_he VCR.
• If more than one "Brand
Code" is li _ted for your type of
cable box, try a different
one. (You can use the CANCEL
button
to move back to the "Brand
Code" option.)
After you haw_ determined
that you a:re using the c.orrect
Brand
Code, turn the _huttle
ring right to begin memorizing
channels.
The TV screen will show you a message
that
the
VCR is memorizing
the channels
coming from your cable box.
Your TV screen,
the front of your VCR, and your cable box
should all display
each channel
numb _r, one by one.
When the VCR is finished
memorizing,
it will return
to the VCR's
picture.
DImportant:
If no code number
is listed for your cable box, or if none of the
numbers
listed
wil! work, try each code, from 01 to 94.
If your cable box cannot be operated
by a remote control (i.e., if it
is operated
with a mechanical
dial or slide), then your VCR will
not be able to change
channels
on the cable box.
If your cable box will not respond
to any o r the codes, your VCR
cannot
change
channels
on the cable box. You will need to change
channels
yourself,
using the cable box's remote control. You
should re-program
your VCR, choosing
"Cable" in step O on page
34. When programming
to record, you will need to leave your
cable box ON and tuned
to the channel
:gou wish to record.
If you connected
a satellite
receiver,
press the CHANNEL
buttons
to see that the TV shows the channels
coming from the receiver.
If it does not., try repositioning
or moving _he satellite
receiver.
_Important:
Automatic
programming
may include
vacant
channels
if there are
stray
signals
or noise on those channels.
Ir this occurs, you can
manually
delete the channels
using the procedure
in the section
"Adding and deleting
cha_nels."
