Focusing on the Subject
Focus Lock
Use focus lock to focus on off<:enter subjects when center is selected for AF area
mode.
To focus on off-center subjects when AF area mode (_37) is set to Center in
I_1 (auto) mode or continuous shooting mode, use focus lock as described below.

Position the subject at the center of the
frame.

2 Pressthe shutter-release button
halfway.
• Subjectis in focus and the focus area lights in
green.
• Exposureis alsolocked.
3 Continue holding down the shutter-
release button halfway and recompose the
picture.
• Besureto maintain the samedistance between the
cameraand the subject.
4 Press the shutter-release button all the way to
take the picture.
