Features That Can Be Set Using the Multi Selector
Raising the Flash
When you press tile shutter-release button halfway, tile flash will automatically
pop up if the conditions required for flash photography are met.
• Auto flash (_@UlI) auto, _ auto with redeye
reduction, or ,_ll_ slow sync): If the lighting is
dim, the flash automatically pops up when the
shutter-release button is pressed halfway. The
camera determines whether or not the flash
pops up based on the brightness of the subject
and the settings used during shooting.
• _) off: The flash does not pop up, even when the shutter-release button is
pressed halfway. Tile camera can shoot pictures with tile flash lowered.
• _ fill flash: Tile flash pops up when tile shutter-release button is pressed
halfway during shooting.
Lowering the Flash
When not using the flash, gently push to lower the flash until it
clicks shut,
Available Flash Modes
_TOAuto
Flash fires automatically when lighting is dim.
_ Auto with red.eye reduction
Best choice for portraits. Reduces red-eye effect caused by flash in portraits (_]62).
(_ Off
Flash does not fire.
• Use of a tripod is recommended to avoid the effects of camera shake when
shooting in a dark location.
Fill flash
The flash fires when a picture is taken, regardless of how bright the subject is. Use to
"fill-in" (illuminate) shadows and backlit subjects.
SlowsynC
Auto is combined with a slow shutter speed. Suitable for portraits of human
subjects shot at night or under dim light. Flash illuminates main subject; slow
shutter speeds are used to capture background.
