8. Install the LCS cold plate.
a. Remove the plastic cover from the bottom of the cold plate as shown in the following figure.

Removing the protective cap
If you are reusing the original LCS unit, apply thermal compound to the center of the
CPU top surface (see Installing the CPU heatsink on page
If you are using a new LCS unit, do not apply thermal compound to the CPU because
the new LCS unit already has thermal compound applied to the surface of the cold
plate. Instead, remove the thermal compound protective liner from the bottom of the new
LCS unit.
