To protect the power supply that you want to remove,

turn off the building's power source circuit breaker.
Remove each wire from the DC power source

electrical outlet.
Remove the 8 AWG wires from the DC input

connector on the –48-volt DC power supply.
Label the polarity at both ends of each wire.

Loosen the three wires with a slotted-blade

screwdriver.
Gently pull the three wires out of the DC input

connector.
Place the wires aside until you are ready to connect

them again.

Removing and Replacing a Power Supply
Remove the power supply.

Using a flat-blade screwdriver, loosen the
a
spring-loaded screws that secure the power supply
to the chassis.
Grasp the power supply handle.

Pull the power supply straight out from the chassis,
c
making certain that you do not damage the
connectors on the rear of the power supply or the
connectors on the chassis backplane.
CAUTION: To ensure against damage to the
connectors, while you pull the power supply straight
out of the chassis, put one hand under the bottom of
the power supply to support it.
Replacing a –48-volt DC Power Supply
To install a –48-volt DC power supply:
With one hand, grasp the power supply by the

handle; put your other hand beneath the power
supply to support it; and face the front of the chassis.
Carefully slide the power supply unit into the selected

power supply slot.
With the handle (Figure 44), gently push the power
3
supply inward until the connectors engage.
You feel a slight resistance as the connectors engage.
