FRU information (service only)

The following information describes procedures for removing and installing certain
components inside the system. Only a qualified service technician is authorized to
access the components described in this section.
Note: Before servicing this system, read "Before you begin" on page 71.

Hot-swap drive backplane

The server comes with one hot-swap drive backplane, which accepts up to three
hot-swap hard drives. The hot-swap drive backplane is mounted on one side of a
metal plate that holds the light path diagnostic card on the other side.

1. Turn off the server and disconnect all power cords and external cables; then,
remove the top cover (see "Removing the server top cover and bezel" on page
72).
2. Unplug the cable from the diskette drive and CD-ROM drive assembly to the
hot-swap drive backplane.
3. Remove all hot-swap hard drives by pulling out on their locking handles and
sliding the drives out the front of the server.
4. Lift the two backplane locking latches and slide the backplane assembly up out
of the server.
