Installing Media Flow Controller Software from the Network—PXE
Before you begin:

"Before Installing Media Flow Controller with PXE" on page
Plug your machine into a serial console, with flow control disabled, and configure the
BIOS to PXE boot. We recommend connecting the console to the terminal server and
opening a TELNET session for this procedure.
Decide and implement the installation options that you want; these are described in
Installation Options" on page
options have been configured in the PXE installation configuration file; however, the PXE
installation configuration file must still be modified as described in
Server" on page 36
To install Media Flow Controller with PXE:
1. Reboot the machine in PXE boot mode. The PXE boot prompt is displayed.
2. Type in the label that you configured in the PXE server for the Media Flow Controller
installation boot files (for example mfc-2.1.0) and press Enter. If installing from a serial
console, you are prompted to log in as root first.
3. Log in as root.
A welcome message is displayed followed by an installation menu:
Enter 1 to Reboot without installing or restoring
Enter 2 to Halt without installing or restoring
Enter 3 to Start the installation from PXE
Enter 1, 2, or 3 and press return :

Option
This option only has an effect if auto-eth is also specified. When
set, the machine automatically reboots after step
Flow Controller installation procedure.
Add an additional option, Enter 8 to Use the PXE-boot
specification for eth0, to the installation menu, to choose the
setting you specified with ethsetup. The options, default, least-
ports, most-ports, pxe, <URL>, url, HW address; are described
in
Option 5" on page
Set init-cache or keep-cache to bypass options 1 and 2 in step
of the Media Flow Controller installation procedure. Set init-cache
for a first-time installation or if you want to empty the cache. Set
keep-cache for a restoration installation of Media Flow Controller;
in some situations some or all of the cached data still might not be
preserved. When set, the options to Install or Restore in step
the Media Flow Controller installation are omitted.
37. This procedure assumes that NONE of the installation
for the installation to work.
