The runtime properties of Netscape Certificate Management System (CMS) are
governed by a set of configuration parameters. These parameters are stored in a
file that is read by the server during startup.
When you install Certificate Management System, the installer creates an ASCII
file, named
parameters. You can control the way Certificate Management System functions by
making the appropriate changes to the configuration information.
This chapter explains how the installation affects the number of configuration files
created in your machine and their contents. It also explains ways in which you can
modify the configuration and precautions you should take when doing so. The
chapter ends with a road map to configuring individual subsystems.
