DR4000 System NVRAM

NVRAM is a field replaceable unit (FRU) in the DR4000 system, which
consists of 8 GB of memory that is divided into four different partitions. The
NVRAM double data rate (DDR) memory is backed by a super capacitor,
which requires 96% of its charge (4.6V/5.0V) to perform its role.
The super capacitor is responsible for moving DDR contents to the solid-state
drive (SSD) during a power loss. The data transfer process requires it to
maintain power for 3 minutes of operation (normally, it takes approximately
one minute). If there is a problem in backing up data into the SSD, a
subsequent system reboot detects this issue. NVRAM can experience backup
failure when the following occurs:
• NVRAM fails to backup the data during a power shutdown
• The super capacitor did not maintain sufficient power to backup the
DDR contents into the SSD.
• NVRAM/SSD encountered end-of-line (EOL) or other errors.
If these conditions occur, the NVRAM requires either a failure recovery or a
replacement.
NOTE:

NVRAM Backup Failure Recovery
After you have physically replaced the NVRAM card in a PCIe x4 or x8 slot in
the DR4000 system chassis, you can recover from an NVRAM backup failure
by completing these tasks:
1 Enter the following DR4000 system CLI command:
maintenance --hardware --reinit_nvram
This formats the SSD and clears all of the backup and restore logs, by
reinitializing the NVRAM.
2 Verify that the DR4000 system enters its Maintenance mode.
