Edge detector and crosshair probes can be used to collect data points for feature measurements. Both

Edge detector probes

Optical edge detection recognizes light to dark and dark to light edge transitions on projector-based sys-
tems. Each edge transition is recognized as a point by the QC-300. Edge detection point entry can be
automatic or manual.

Automatic point entry

When automatic point entry is used to measure features, a point is entered when an edge is
crossed. It is not necessary to press the Enter key to enter the point.

Manual point entry

When manual point entry is used to measure features, a point is stored in a temporary memory
location when the edge is crossed. This point is replaced with a new point each time a new edge
is crossed. The most recent point is entered as part of a measurement when the Enter key is
pressed.

Crosshair probes

Crosshair probes must be positioned precisely over part features to collect feature data points. Crosshair
point entry can be automatic or manual.
