F.3.2
Load Balancing with Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC) or
Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Protocol (WPAD)
Drawbacks
The DNS server does not know if one of the proxy servers has
degraded performance or if it is completely unavailable. If one
server fails, the DNS round robin continues to send traffic to the
failed server and as a result, clients can receive "server not
available" errors until the problem is fixed.
Since all servers are treated equally, proper load balancing is not
possible.
The requested content type is not taken into consideration.

Auto-Configuration (PAC)
Clients have to configure web browsers to use a Java script
automatic proxy and the web browser should support the Java
script.
A configuration file has to be placed somewhere in the internal
network or on the proxy server.
