7.4. Recoat/Test
On the Recoat/Test screen, a few of the most commonly changed parameters are displayed for reference. When
the Recoat or Test button is pressed either on the unit or on the handset, the Recoat/Test screen will display the
status of the process that is running. The Stop button can be used to end the active Recoat or Test process.
7.5. Tools
The tools available in the Handset Controller are listed below.
Purge: Allows the user to initiate a Purge sequence. Purging is a method of removing air bubbles or voids from the
inject mechanism. The system should be purged whenever a new bottle of material is installed.
Fill: Allows the user to perform a fill operation. If a recoat sequence is initiated and
the pump syringe has insufficient material to perform the inject operation, the
machine will automatically fill the syringe from the material bottle. In many
situations, the user may prefer to initiate the fill sequence while working away
from the machine. Note that the machine cannot be used for any operation while
performing a fill operation.
Inject Calculator: The Inject Quantity Calculator provides a useful approximation of
the recoat material required for a given mold size, fiber diameter and recoat
length. Note that the volume is calculated on the assumption of no overlap with
the fibers outer jacket..
Material Usage: The Material Usage Tool allows the user to enter the material bottle
volume and expiration date. Click on the Edit button edit the bottle volume and
expiration date. The Handset will then monitor material usage as it is injected
into the mold. The Handset must be connected to the PTR for the material usage
monitor to keep track of usage
Process Counters: The process counter keeps track of the number of recoats and the total cure time. These values
are recorded by Handset and requires that the Handset is connected at all times.
