SECTION V - BUILT IN SAFEGUARDS
A. COMPRESSOR TIME DELAY
Protects the KPHP while in COOL or HEAT mode from potential damage by delaying the
compressor from starting before the pressures in the mechanical system equalize. Always
activates when the KPHP:
Cycles off.
•
Is turned off.
•
If power is lost and then restored.
•
If the operational mode is changed.
•
Display flashes C or F if the time delay is activated. The time delay lasts for about 2.5
minutes.
B. FAN CYCLING
Part of the KPHP limited freeze protection. It works by regulating the air flow to keep the re-
frigerant pressures at the optimum range.
C. HIGH-PRESSURE SWITCH AND ALARM
Protects the KPHP from potential damage to the mechanical system by shutting down and
alerting operators of a condition such as stopped or slowed air flow over the condenser coil,
Make-up Air temperature above operating range, or mechanical failure. If these conditions
exist, the KPHP will sound an audible alarm only, and display HP on the control.
To resume operation, the system requires a manual reset after corrective action is taken. The
reset switch is located on the left side of the filter access panel, just below the control. Open
the compartment door and push in to reset. If activated, the operator will hear a click.
D. AUTOMATIC RESTART
In the event of a power loss, the KwiKool System resumes operation when the power is re-
stored, if in the ON position when power was lost. All operational functions are saved in the
memory of the control.
E. CONDENSATE TANK AND HIGH LEVEL ALARM
All KwiKool Systems come standard with an external condensate tank. The tank is equipped
with an overflow safety cut-off switch. When the tank is full, the safety switch will automatical-
ly shut down your KPHP system, sound an audible alarm and display a fault code (CF). This
prevents accidental flooding of the conditioned space. If you are using the supplied bypass
plug and not using the tank, this alarm is nonfunctional.
F. CONDENSATE PUMP & HIGH-LEVEL ALARM
KwiKool Systems are factory-equipped with an internal high lift condensate pump. KPHP
condensate pumps can pump the condensation (collected in the reservoir of the pump to a
drain or other area approved for the discharge) water by attaching ¼-inch I.D. tubing to the
¼-inch O.D. barbed condensate outlet. KPHP condensate pumps have a pump safety cut-off
that prevents accidental water overflow by shutting the KPHP down and alerting operators
with an audible alarm and displaying CP on the control panel.
