    This guide describes the Extron DTP3 T/R 311 long distance HDMI Twisted Pair Extender, which consists of a transmitter and receiver: • DTP3 T 311 — 230 feet (70 meters) transmitter • DTP3 R 311 — 230 feet (70 meters) receiver This guide describes how to install, operate, and configure the transmitter and receiver.

    Analog stereo audio embedding — Analog stereo audio signals can be selectively embedded onto the digital video output signal and transported over DTP. The DTP3 T 311 can be set to pass the embedded digital audio, embed the analog audio, or to automatically embed the analog audio when no digital audio is detected.

    Transmitter Features HDMI input port (see figure 2) — Connect an HDMI cable between this port and the HDMI output port (or DVI port, with an appropriate adapter) of the digital video source.     USB Device ports (see figure 2) — The built-in four port hub has female USB Type A connectors: two that are USB 2.0-compatible and two that are HID-compatible. USB 2.0 connectors can provide +5 VDC at up to 500 mA to connected USB peripherals requiring power.

    Cable recommendations Extron recommends using the following practices to achieve full transmission distances up to 230 feet (70 meters) and reduce transmission errors. • Use Extron XTP DTP 22 STP cable for the best performance. • At a minimum, Extron recommends 22 AWG, solid conductor, STP cable with a minimum bandwidth of 500 MHz.
  • Page 20 • This product is intended to be supplied by a UL Listed power source marked “Class 2” or “LPS,” rated output 12 VDC, minimum 1.0 A for DTP3 T 311 and minimum 2.8 A for DTP3 R 311. Always use a power supply supplied by or specified by Extron.

    Basic Operation Configuration and Other Operations Simple Configuration and more complex operation of the system is accomplished via SIS commands (see Instruction Set Control), Extron Product Configuration Software (see Product Configuration Software), or embedded web pages (see HTML Pages). Reset Operations The rear panel button initiates two modes of reset.

    Error Responses When either DTP3 T/R 311 unit receives a valid SIS command, it executes the command and sends a response to the host device. If the Extender unit is unable to execute the command because the command is invalid or it contains invalid parameters, the unit returns an error response to the host.
