Owner's Guide
Function Check
Never look directly into the light emitted from the light lens or at reflected light from tooth or other surfaces.
Retinal damage may occur.
Always test the selected time and composite material combination using the provided test block prior to
WARNING
utilizing on a patient to verify that the cure time is sufficient to fully cure the material. Failure to test the
combination of cure time and material may lead to an increased risk of uncured material and restoration failure.
The Coltolux® Comfort includes a 20-second cycle timer with audible indication after 10 seconds . The device will automatically deactivate
after 20 seconds of operation . The device can be manually deactivated at any time prior to 20 seconds by pressing the "Activation/
Deactivation" button .
It is the responsibility of the personnel performing the restorative procedure to verify that the cure time and light output is sufficient to cure
the selected material and to the depth desired for the clinical scenario . Prior to utilizing the Coltolux Comfort in a clinical procedure, always
utilize the provided test block to verify that the selected composite and cure time will fully cure the dental material to the desired depth . To
utilize the test block, place the dental material in the well that corresponds with the desired cure depth for the clinical application . Cure the
material for the desired cure time, then remove the composite from the well with a dental spatula . Using the spatula, test the underside of
the dental material to verify that the material has fully cured . If the material has not fully cured, ensure the lens cap, barrier sleeve, and LED
lens are free from debris that may be blocking the output window and reducing light output . If these components are free of debris, adjust
the cure time until the selected dental material fully cures to the depth desired .
Always follow dental material manufacturer's instructions on proper curing technique of specific materials .
Indicators
Handpiece
1 . Ready Mode – Indicator LED is solid green .
2 . Sleep Mode – Indicator LED is off .
3 . Thermal Protection Mode – Indicator LED is solid red . Alternating high and low audible tones are emitted . During this period, the
handpiece will be inoperable, and pressing the handpiece button will not activate the device LED until the handpiece cools .
4 . Low Battery Mode – Indicator LED flashes green and an audible tone is heard .
NOTE: If low-battery state is reached, place battery in charger base to allow to fully recharge . The Coltolux® Comfort battery may be
charged without the handpiece attached .
Charger base
1 . Charging status – Indicator LEDs are pulsing blue .
2 . Fully charged status – Indicator LEDs are solid blue .
3 . Charge Error status – Indicator LEDs are rapidly flashing .
Operating Instructions
All curing lights output high levels of light energy and thermal radiation. Failure to follow the instructions
provided may lead to soft tissue burns, pulpal damage, or patient discomfort.
Do not activate curing light over soft tissue such as lips, gums, or tongue. Failure to follow this instruction may
lead to soft tissue burns.
Always ensure the provided light shields and proper blue light-filtering safety glasses are utilized during
activation of the curing light. Failure to shield patient or user from direct or reflected blue light energy may lead
WARNING
to unsafe levels of viewed light energy, which may be harmful to the eyes.
Repeated operation of the device will cause the case temperature to increase. Always allow for a cool-down
period of 5 minutes if the device is operated for longer than 2 minutes repeatedly. Failure to allow for device
cooldown may lead to case temperatures up to 55 °C.
