4.3.2 Preparation

To perform an excellent milking, each cow needs to be "prepared" before attaching the cluster to the udders.
The preparation procedure can warrant a better and faster milk release, with significant reduction in stress for
cows and teats and a significant reduction in milking time. During the preparation, the milker uses to clean up
the teats and to check milk quality for mastitis and infection.
With the iMilkNano panel in detachment and before starting to clean the nipples, if automatic preparation is
active, pressing the remote button or the Nano Display button starts the preparation time countdown to alert
the operator of the best time for attaching the milking cluster.
The display shows the countdown of the preparation time with flashing green LEDs. During countdown of the
last 5 seconds, the LEDs flash yellow.
When the preparation time elapses, the display shows the positive count and the LEDs flash red.

4.3.3 Milking mode

The milking phase is the actual phase when the animal is milked.
After the detachment stage, the operator can start a new automatic milking operation by pressing the remote
button, the Nano Display button.
In automatic milking, the cluster is automatically removed when the milk flow falls below the level set in the
parameter; with manual milking, the cluster is only removed after the remote button or Nano Display button
has been pressed or when the maximum milking time has run out.
In the system with HFS, the presence of continuous flow is indicated by the dot on the first digit to the right
lighting up.
If there is a cylinder with autostart, milking can be started simply by raising the claw; it will start in automatic
or manual mode depending on the setting. It is possible at any time to switch from automatic to manual
mode and vice versa simply by pressing the button.
At the beginning of a new milking session, the panel immediately releases the milking cluster and after a
delay, opens the shut-off valve. This delay allows the milker to position him/herself correctly under the
animal's udder. Pulsation starts at the end of an additional delay to keep the sheaths completely open during
the attachment procedure in order to speed it up and make it easier.
