Note: If there is not enough room because of an adjacent cable and SFP, you
may need to temporarily remove the adjacent cable.

2. Using the plastic tab, pull the SFP from the port (see Figure 20).

3. Replace the protective cover on the SFP module.
4. Place the SFP module into a static-protective package.
5. If you will not be replacing the SFP, replace the protective cover on the router
port. If you are replacing the SFP, continue to "Installing an SFP."
Installing an SFP
Follow the instructions below to install SFPs in the router.
Note: SFPs are keyed so that they can be inserted only in the correct orientation. If
a transceiver does not install easily, ensure that it is oriented and aligned
correctly, and that the port is not blocked by a protective cap or other object.
1. Remove the protective cap (if any) from the router port. Save the cap for future
use.
2. Remove the SFP from its static-protective package.
