If the cause of an alarm is in question, it should be
assumed that the alarm is due to an actual fire or
elevated CO concentration, and the premises should
be evacuated immediately.

Fire safety guidelines

By testing the device, you can familiarize yourself with the
alarm tone. In the event of an alarm, all residents should have
an escape plan and know how to behave.

Proactive safety measures

Ì Always use a protective guard in front of open fireplaces
and have chimneys cleaned regularly.
Ì Never leave candles burning unattended.
Ì Replace worn or damaged sockets, switches, cables,
and any cracked or frayed electrical wires and plugs.
Ì Avoid overloading electrical circuits.

Ì Only use electrical devices and tools that carry a recogni-
zed approval mark.
Ì Place keys for apartment and front doors within easy
reach for all residents, ensuring access to exits even
when doors are locked.
Behavior in case of fire
If smoke or fire is detected in the stairwell or hallway
outside your apartment:
Ì Remain calm.
Ì Keep your apartment door closed (but not locked) and
seal it with damp towels if possible.
Ì Call the fire department (112), provide your name and
address including floor number.
Ì Make yourself known at an open window.
