SW10 OPTICAL SMOKE ALARM
DOP: FSTDOP19005
WITH LONG LIFE BATTERY BACK-UP
USER MANUAL
220-240 V AC 50-60 Hz mains powered smoke alarm. Replaceable non-rechargeable 9V lithium battery back-up.
WARNING: Wiring should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with either BS 7671 or local building standards. The wiring must conform to
current regulations for electrical installations. Check with local building and fire regulations for your property, to ensure compliance.
Optical smoke alarms are suitable for detecting slow smouldering fires. Like other smoke alarms, they can be subject to nuisance alarms from steam and
should not be placed near bathrooms.
For the earliest warning, we recommend smoke alarms are fitted in all rooms where the temperature is between 0°C (32°F) and 40°C (104°F).
Prolonged exposure to temperatures outside those stated above will reduce product life.
This smoke alarm is not intended for any non-residential, commercial or industrial application, nor for any other purpose than described above.

IMPORTANT: The circuit used to Power the alarm must be a 24 hour voltage circuit that cannot be turned off by a switch.
In accordance with BS 5839: Part 6, we recommend: For mains powered alarms, each with an integral standby supply, the mains
electricity supply should take the form of either a) an independent circuit at the dwelling's main circuit board, in which case no
other electrical equipment should be connected to this circuit (other than a dedicated monitoring device installed to indicate failure
of the mains electricity supply to the alarms); or b) a separately electrically protected, regularly used local lighting circuit. Check
with local building and fire regulations for your property, to ensure compliance.
Ensure dust cover is removed before operation.
The red LED on the front of the alarm should flash once every 32 seconds (approx.) to show that the alarm sensor is in actively
monitoring for smoke. When the test button is pressed, the alarm will flash once every 8 seconds for 8 minutes.

Need help?
Do you have a question about the SW1 and is the answer not in the manual?
Questions and answers
SW1 alarm red led flashes every 5 seconds on one unit and the alarm is spuriously initiating, the other SW1 alarm red led flashes every 35 seconds and this alarm doesn’t initiate an alarm when the other is disconnected, there is no smoke or fumes in the vicinity and both alarms are dated to expire in 2029, alarms are clean visually. Both alarms purchased from Screwfix 4 years ago.
If the FireAngel SW1 alarm's red LED flashes every 5 seconds and initiates spuriously, it may indicate a false alarm or a potential issue with the sensor. The other SW1 alarm flashing every 35 seconds and not initiating when the first is disconnected suggests it is in normal standby mode and not receiving an interconnect signal. This indicates that the first alarm may be triggering due to contamination, improper installation, or a fault, while the second alarm is functioning normally.

My alarm keeps going off, after a false alarm earlier, it now keeps going off every 8 minutes. How can I stop it
Press and hold the test button on the alarm for 5 seconds to activate the silence feature. This will temporarily stop the alarm for 8 minutes. During this time, the red LED will flash every 8 seconds to indicate the silence mode is active. After 8 minutes, the alarm will return to full sensitivity.
