Remove the 500-sheet universal paper cassette from the 500-sheet paper feed unit.

Locate the jammed paper inside the paper feed unit and gently pull it out.

If the optional Canon Duplex Unit DU-52 is installed, check the duplex unit as
explained on the following pages:
• If the jammed paper is still within the paper feed area inside the printer, do
not force it. Always release the transfer guide inside the printer before
removing the paper (see page 152).
• When removing the jammed paper, be careful not to touch the transfer
charging roller. If the roller becomes dirty, the print quality will deteriorate.
Before inserting or removing the duplex unit, make sure the power has been
turned off.
