ST90 AC Powered Cellular Uplink Host Introduction Please read all the instructions before you begin the in- stallation. Performing a test of your site layout is highly recommended. Perform a site survey to determine the possible mount- ing locations for the host and the power box. The cable between them is 50 feet long.
It is also capable of supporting two Sensors remote- ly wired to it. The connections are industry standard 4–20 mA capable inputs. Two cord grips are available on the front of the junction box for wiring the sensors. You may connect any 4–20 sensor to these inputs. Contact customer support for help if this is the intended application.
7.2.1 Host Startup INDICATOR LIGHTS Condition LED Description A slow green LED flashes followed by the green & red Power ON LEDs alternating flashes. Red LED will go out and the green LED will begin to Active on Cellular flash slowly while attempting to register on the cellular Network network.
7.2.3 ST90 Client Setup TERMINAL BLOCK IN BOX S2 0 0 TERMINAL BLOCK IN BOX PLC & Sensor PLC is powering loop 7.2.4 Safety Precautions The ST90 AC Host uses GSM or CDMA cellular ser- vices, using Radio Frequency (RF) waves to commu- nicate with the nearest cellular tower.
• Don’t install the ST90 AC Host using GSM or CDMA cellular service below ground level unless provisions are made for an external antenna. • If the ST90 AC Host is installed in an area with poor sig- nal strength, an external antenna is required for reliable performance.
Site Layout Test (at the Office) Perform a site survey to determine possible mounting locations for the Host and Power Box. The 50-feet- long cable between them must be routed and secured in a non-Hazardous location, and must not be routed through a Hazardous location.
Check the level in the tank to ensure it agrees with the BrightTEK Portal. Choose your desired location for the Host. A higher po- sition is more desirable than a low position. The cable is limited to 50 feet, so the chosen location is not easily repositioned.

Troubleshooting Power Supply 1. Identify the power supply of the 4-20mA loop, which can be either an external supply or the internal supply within the ST90 (+24V). 2. If using an external power supply, use a multi-meter to measure the voltage at its output terminals. Ensure that the required voltage is present.
Page 30
5. Note the measured value of the current flowing in the loop. It should be between 4 and 20 mA. If the value of the current is zero, there may be an open circuit and the wiring should be checked. If the wiring is verified to be correct and the value is outside of the 4–20 mA range, there is likely a problem with the sensor.

9.1.3 Selecting Your Organization The first step, after logging on to the system, is to verify that the currently-selected organization is the one you want to work with. A more in-depth overview of organi- zations is detailed in Chapter To change the current organization, perform the follow- ing steps: 1.
9.1.4 Performing a Global Search Use the global search feature to search for a specific tank or a group of tanks within the organizations that you have access to. You can search for a tank by enter- ing the first few numbers or letters of the tank identifier or location name.
Tanks reside within locations Sub-organizations also have the same structure and reside within their parent organizations. It is important to understand what organi- zation level is selected in the currently selected organi- zation tab to ensure that any actions being undertaken are carried out at the appropriate level.
4. Click the Update Organizational Details button to save the screen. You can now return to the Organization List screen to view the new organization. Managing Your Tanks 9.3.1 Searching for a Tank To search for a particular tank, either to view, move or setup, you can use the following steps: • Use the tank Serial Number (SN) or Mobile Identification Number (MIN#) provided by the installer to perform a Global Search for the tank to be set up in the application.
When field personnel install a monitor on a tank, they can call their BrightTEK system administrator or AMETEK LMS Support from the tank site to provide important tank details. IMPORTANT: The installer should call their BrightTEK system administrator before pressing the Call Button on the monitor.
Page 45
NOTE: For a tank with a shape that is not standard, such as a silo, contact your system administrator for additional setup requirements. If setting up a tank with sensors other than the ST90 series, refer to the instruc- tions provided separately or contact BrightTEK support. 5.
