Operation

4.3
Putting the attachment on the basic
appliance
See "Multitool MT 40 – basic appliance" operat-
ing instructions.
5 OPERATION
Switch on the machine before approaching the
grass to be cut. Thus, the cutting line reaches the
maximum speed of rotation.
5.1
Fold down the protective bracket (03)
1. Tilt the protective bracket (03/1) downwards
by hand (03/a) until it engages in the horizon-
tal position (03/b).
5.2

Switching the appliance on and off

See "Multitool MT 40 – basic appliance" operat-
ing instructions.
5.3
Prolonging the cutting line during
operation (04)
The cutting line shortens during operation and
frays out.
1. Tap (04/a) the spool head (04/1) on the
ground from time to time. This unwinds a
piece of new cutting line from the spool and
cuts off the used line end of the line cutter
(04/2).
6 WORKING BEHAVIOUR AND
WORKING TECHNIQUE (05 – 08)
Slightly tip the appliance forwards (approx.
30°) to mow with the tip of the cutting line.
Walk forwards slowly (05).
When mowing, swivel the appliance evenly to
the right and left (06).
Long grass must be mown in several passes.
Always proceed from top to bottom (07).
The appliance cuts best at very high speed.
Therefore, do not overload the appliance by
cutting long grass.
If the appliance is overloaded in long grass,
the line will be blocked. Immediately lift the
appliance so it releases. Otherwise, the mo-
tor could be permanently damaged.
Do not move the appliance directly against
hard obstacles (e.g. walls), but mow side-
ways. This protects the cutting line (08).
Keep the appliance away from sensitive
plants. Fold the protective bracket into the
horizontal position.
