The required Solaris packages are listed in
Table 3–1. Required OS Packages
Package Description
SUNWarc System libraries for software development of
statistically linked executables
SUNWbtool Software development utilities such as ar, nm,
etc.
SUNWhea SUNOS C/C++ header files for general
development of software
SUNWlibm Sun Workshop bundled libm
SUNWlibms Sun Workshop bundled shared libm
SUNWsprot Solaris bundled tools
SUNWtoo Programming tools
To add a Solaris package, follow these steps:
Access the Solaris software cd that contains the OS packages using
the cd command.
List the packages present on that directory by using the ls
command.
Add the needed packages from the Solaris cd, for example,
# pkgadd -d.SUNWarc,SUNWbtool
For every package being added, the system warns that it is going
to use its superuser privilege to add the files and prompts for
confirmation.
