Using the HotWire Diagnostics Utility

Checking RTU Status

Procedure
To verify that the RTU is functioning properly:
1. Select Hardware Status from the
Diagnostics menu to display the
Hardware Status window.
2. Select MAC Address to display the
Media Access Control (MAC)
address for your card.
If an address does not appear, see
Setting/Changing MAC Address
on page 3-5.
3. Select Device Status.
The window can be scrolled to
provide the latest RTU status. If
the RTU is up and running, the
window displays the lines as shown
in the example; however, the
firmware version number may be
different. Refer to the following
table for a list of possible status
messages and their definition.
Status Message
Device Ready
Device Busy
Device Timeout
4. Select Line Rate to display the current operating DSL line rate. If the DSL
Line is not synchronized, the system displays a LINK DOWN error message.
For window operations, click on:
Exit to close the window and return to the main menu.
