The new address would be:
After converting the link-level address, NMS issues the Change Protocol Mode (chpm) command
to the control device. This modem then broadcasts the change in mode to its downstream modems
and begins to poll all devices on its poll list using the new protocol. NMS edits the device profiles
for all devices on the tree to reflect the following:
NMS provides a list of the original and new link-level addresses for all devices on the affected
tree. NMS identifies any device whose poll list status was changed from active to skipped
(extended control only) in the mode changing process.
When the conversion is complete, refer to the list of original and new link-level addresses provided
by NMS and do the following:
6800-A2-GB20-20
CC/na
Where:
CC
= the control channel
na
= the Advanced Diagnostic protocol mode network address
calculated by NMS. Notice that the port address is deleted.
If the new link-level address conflicts with that of another control
modem, NMS provides a list of five available network addresses.
Choose one of these addresses and change the address of one of
the modems. Then, return to this section.
new link-level address
new alternate mode address
new protocol mode
correct system polling status
Since the control modem changed its address, all link-level
addresses on the diagnostic tree are updated to reflect this change.
In the conversion of the link-level address from the DATAPHONE II
short-form address to the Advanced mode long-form address, the
alternate mode address in the device profile is used.
1. Check the status of each device on the diagnostic tree to ensure diagnostic
communications.
2. Determine if devices for which poll list status was changed should be added to their
upstream device's poll list.
3. Update any user or system routines that have embedded link-level addresses in them. In the
device profile, the Change Protocol Mode (chpm) command automatically converts the
link-level address of the control modem and every device on the diagnostic tree. However,
the command does not change the link-level addresses embedded in routines to reflect the
new addresses. To avoid problems, use mnemonic device names when specifying
individual devices within routines.
