Programming the Remote
the code being sent so that it is facing the
IR Transmitter Window ll_
on the
AVR 520 remote "head-to-head." The
remotes should be between one and three
inches apart.
2. Selectthe button on the remotethat you
wish to use asthe deviceselectorfor the
codesabout to be entered.Thismay be any
of the Input Selectors I!_.
3. Press the Input Selector O
button
chosenandthe Learn Button O
at the
sametime. Holdthesebuttonsuntilthe
Program/SPLIndicator I_
flashesamber
andthe light underthe deviceselectorbut-
ton turns red. Release the buttons.
4. Press the button on the AVR520 remote
that you wish to program.Notethat the
Program/SPLIndicator I_
will stop
flashing.
5.Within five seconds, p ressand hold the but-
ton on the original remotethat you wish to
"teach" into the AVR520 remote.When the
Program/SPLIndicator I_
turns green
three times,release the button. Notethat
the ProgramIndicatorwill then begin to
flash amber again.
NOTE:If the Program/SPLIndicator I_
turns redduring Step5 or 6, the program-
mingwas not successful. R epeat t he stepsto
seeif the codewill "take."
6. RepeatSteps4 though 6 for eachbutton on
the sourceremotethat you wish to transfer
to the AVR520 remote.
7. Onceall codeshavebeentransferred from
the original sourceremoteto the AVR520
remote,pressthe Learn Button I!_.
8. RepeatSteps1through 7 for any additional
remotesyou wish to "teach" into the
AVR520 Remote.
Erasing Learned Codes
The AVR 520's remote allows you to remove or
erase,the code learned into a single button for a
single device, to remove or erase the code set for
all the codes that have been programmed into
specific device buttons, or to erase all commands
that have been learned to all devices.
Toerasea singlelearnedcodefrom within a sin-
gle device's settings, f ollow thesesteps:
Press and hold both the Input Selector
_0
within whichthe individualbut-
ton to be erasedhasbeenprogrammed and
the Learn Button I!_.
2.Whenthe red LEDunderthe Input Selector
turns redandthe Program/SPL Indicator
I_
flashesamber,release the buttons.
Press and release the Input Selector

againfor the devicewithin
whichthe individualbuttonto be erasedhas
beenprogrammed.
4. Press the 7 Button I[_ four times.
5. Press and release the individualbuttonfor
whichthe codeis to be erased. T he
Program/SPL Indicator I_ will blink
greentwo timesandthen return to amber.
6. Toeraseotherbuttonswithinthe same
device,pressthem asnoted in Step5.
7.Whenall buttonsto be erasedhavebeen
pressed, p ressthe LearnButton _
to
completethe process.
Toeraseall codeswithin a singledevice, f ollow
thesesteps:
1. Press and hold both the Input Selector

codesandthe Learn Button I!_.
2.Whenthe red LEDunderthe Input Selector
turns redandthe Program/SPL Indicator

3. Press and release the Input Selector

4. Press the 8 button_
four times.
5.TheProgram/SPL Indicator I_
will turn
off andthe red light underthe Input
Selectorwill flashon and off onceto indi-
catethat the codeshavebeenerased.
Toeraseall codesthat havebeenprogrammed
to all devices in the remote,follow thesesteps:
1. Press any Input Selectorll_(_li_
for
whichyou wish to erase the codesandalso
the Learn Button I!_.
2.Whenthe red LEDunderthe Input Selector
turns redandthe Program/SPL Indicator
I_ flashesamber,release the buttons.
3. Pressandrelease the Input Selector

againfor the devicewhose
codesyou wishto erase.
4. Press the 9 Button _
four times.
5.TheProgram/SPL Indicator I_ will turn
off andthe red light underthe Input
Selectorwill flashon andoff onceto
indicate t hat the codeshavebeenerased.
Macro Programming
Macrosenableyou to easilyrepeatfrequently
usedcombinationsof commandswith the press
of a singlebuttonon the AVR520'sremote
control.Onceprogrammed, a macrowill send
out up to 19 different remotecodesin a prede-
termined sequential o rderenablingyouto auto-
matethe processof turning on your system,
changingdevices, o r othercommontasks.The
AVR520's remotecanstore up to five separate
macrocommandsequences: o nethat is
associated with the Power On Button O
andfour morethat areaccessed by pressingthe
Macro Buttons _.
Press the Mute Button _
andthe
Macro Button _
to be programmedor
the Power On Button O
at the same
time. Notethat an Input Selector will
light red,andthe Program/SPLIndicator
I_
will flash amber.
Enterthe stepsfor the macrosequence by
pressingthe buttonfor the actualcommand
step.Although the macromaycontain up to
19 steps,eachbutton press,includingthose
usedto changedevices,countsasa step.
TheProgram/SPLIndicator I_ will flash
greento confirmeachbutton pressas you
entercommands.
NOTE: While entering commands for Power
On/Off of any device during a macro sequence,
press the Mute Button _.
DO NOT press the
actual Power button.
3. When all the steps have been entered,
pressthe Sleep Button _
to enter the
commands.Thered light underthe Input
SelectorsI!_
will blink and then
turn off.
