Main Remote Control Functions

the tuner is in useto start the sequence for

TuningUp/Down:Whenthe tuner is in
use,thesebuttonswill tune up or down through
the selected frequencyband.If the Tuner Mode

holdingeitherof the buttonsfor threeseconds
will cause the tunerto seekthe next stationwith
acceptable signalstrengthfor qualityreception.
Whenthe AUTOIndicator [] is NOTillumi-
nated,pressing thesebuttonswill tune stations
in single-step increments. (Seepage31 for more
information.)
OSD Button:Pressthis button to activate
the On-Screen Display (OSD) system used to set
up or adjust the AVR 520's parameters.
I_) Dolby Mode Selector:Thisbutton is
usedto selectfrom amongthe availableDolby
Surround processing modes.Eachpressof this
buttonwill selectone of the DolbyProLogic II
modesor Dolby3 Stereo. W hena DolbyDigital
encoded sourceis in use,the DolbyDigitalmode
mayalso be selected. ( Seepage 26 for the avail-

DTS Digital Mode Selector:Whena
DTS-encoded digital sourceis selected,each
pressof this button will scrollthorugh the avail-
able DTSmodes. T hespecific choiceof modes
will varyaccordingto whetheror not the source
materialcontainsDTS-ES 6.1 Discreteencoding.
Whena DTS sourceis not in use,this button has
no function.(Seepage40 for the availableDTS
Digitaloptions.)
logic 7 Selector:Press this buttonto
selectfrom amongthe availableLogic7 sur-
roundmodes.(Seepage 26 for the available
Logic7 options.)
TransportControls:Thesebuttonsdo
not haveanyfunctionsfor the AVR520, but
they may be programmedfor the forward/
reverse play operationof a wide varietyof CD
or DVDplayers, a nd audio or video cassette
recorders. ( Seepage40 for moreinformation.)

Button: Pressthis button to acti-
vate the remote's backlight for ease of use in
darkened rooms.
Skip Up/Down Buttons:Thesebuttons
do not havea directfunction with the AVR520,
but when used with a compatibly p rogrammed
CDor DVDchanger t hey will change the disc
currently beingplayedin the changer.
Macro Buttons: Press these buttons
to store or recall a "Macro", which is a
preprogrammed sequence of commands
stored in the remote. (See page 38 for more
information on storing and recalling macros.)
Disc Skip Buttons: Thisbutton has no
directfunction for the AVR520 but is most
often usedto change to the next discin a CD
or DVDplayerwhen the remote is programmed
for that type of device.(Seepage 37 for more
informationon usingthe remotewith products
otherthan the AVR520.)
Preset Up/Down: Whenthe tuner is
in use,pressthesebuttonsto scrollthrough the
stationsprogrammedinto the AVR520's mem-
ory.When somesourcedevices, s uch asCD
players, V CRs and cassettedecks,are selected
usingthe device Input Selectors O,
these
buttonsmay function as ChapterStepor Track
Advance.
Clear Button: Press t his buttonto clear
incorrect e ntrieswhen usingthe remoteto
directlyentera radiostation'sfrequency.
Memory Button: Press thisbuttonto
entera radiostationintothe AVR520'spreset
memory. O ncethe MEMORYIndicator []
flashes, y ou havefive seconds to entera preset
memorylocationusingthe Numeric Keys

Delay/Prev Ch.: Press this button to
beginthe processfor setting the delaytimes
usedbythe AVR520 when processing surround
sound.After pressingthis button, the delay
timesare entered by pressing the Set Button

changethe setting. Press the Set Button I_
againto completethe process. ( Seepage 23 for
moreinformation.)

Pressthis button to change a
setting or selection when configuring many of the
AVR520's settings.
Speaker Select: Pressthis button
to begin the processof configuring the
AVR520's bass managementsystemfor use
with the type of speakersusedin your system.
Oncethe button has been pressed,usethe

to selectthe channelyou
wish to set up. Pressthe Set Button li_ and
then select another channelto configure.
When all adjustments havebeen completed,
pressthe Set Button @ twice to exit the
settingsand return to normaloperation.(See

Multiroom: Pressthis button to activate
the multiroom systemor to beginthe process of
changingthe input or volume levelfor the sec-
ond zone.(Seepage36 for moreinformationon
the Multiroomsystem.)

Up/Down: Pressthese buttons to
raise or lower the system volume.
SPI. Indicator Select: Thisbutton acti-
vatesthe AVR520's EzSet f unction to quickly
and accuratelycalibratethe AVR520'soutput
levels.Pressand hold the buttonfor three sec-
ondsandthen releaseit. Notethat the test
tone will begincirculating,and the
Program/SPI. Indicator O
will change
colors.Duringthis sequence, E zSet w ill auto-
maticallyadjustthe output levelsfor all
channelsuntil they are equal,asshown bythe
Program/SPI. Indicator lightinggreenfor
eachchannel.Press this button againwhen the
adjustmentis completeto turn off the test
tone.(Seepage24 for moreinformationon
EzSet.)
learn Button: Press this buttonto begin
the process of "learning"the codes from another
product'sremoteinto the AVR520'sremote.(See
page37 for moreinformationon usingthe
remote'slearning function.)
Mute: Press this buttonto momentarily
silencethe AVR520 or TVset beingcontrolled,
dependingon which devicehas beenselected.
Whenthe AVR520 remoteis beingprogrammed
to operateanotherdevice,this buttonis pressed
with the Input Selector Button _
to begin
the programmingprocess. ( Seepage37 for
moreinformationon programmingthe remote.)
EzSet S ensor Microphone: Thesensor
microphonefor the EzSetmicrophoneis behind
theseslots.When using the remoteto calibrate
speakeroutput levelsusingEzSet, b e surethat
you do not holdthe remotein a waythat cov-
ersthese slots.(Seepage24 for moreinforma-
tion on using EzSet.)
