22 Chapter 4: Troubleshooting
• The BIOS of your Matrox graphics board might need to be updated or restored.
- For advanced users. If you have another VGA-compatible graphics board (ISA
or PCI), you can try resetting the BIOS of your Matrox graphics board. To do
so:
i. Turn off your computer and insert the other graphics board into an
expansion slot.
ii. Plug your monitor into the other graphics board and restart your computer.
iii. Make sure Matrox System Utilities are installed on your computer. These
can be installed from your Matrox CD.
iv. Windows 98/Me/2000/XP or NT 4.0. Select Run from the Start button
and type C:\MATROX\UTIL\PBIOSWIN, and then click OK. Follow the
on-screen instructions.
v. Turn off your computer, remove the other graphics board, and then plug
your monitor into your Matrox graphics board.
vi. Restart your computer.

Wrong color balance, screen image off-center, or no picture at all.
This could be due to one of several reasons:
• Your monitor video controls might be improperly set.
- Adjust your monitor controls (for example, brightness and contrast). For more
information, see your monitor manual.
• Your monitor might not be properly connected.
- Make sure you are using the correct connectors and that all connectors are
properly fastened. See Connecting display devices in Chapter 2.
- Make sure the monitor power cable is firmly in place.
