SECTION 6
TROUBLESHOOTING
6-1.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEMS
1) The system does not start
<Cause>
Incomplete IC204 soldering, EPROM disconnection or defect can be
suspected.
2) When the whole alarm LED lights up and stops when the power is turned ON
<Cause>
IC240 of the system controller is not initialized normally.
<Countermeasure>
Communication with the mechanical controller may have failed. Check the
harness connecting CN204 of the IF-687 board and CN006 of the PRT-11
board. Or communication with the EEPROM (IC201 of IF-687) may have
failed. In this case, check the periphery of IC201.
3) Data from the personal computer is not accepted (not operating with the driver software)
4) The alarm lamp lights up other than paper jamming
<Cause>
There may be problems in the periphery of IC209 of the interface controller.
<Countermeasure>
Press S207 of the IF-687 board to perform the test printing.
If printing is not performed, defect of the periphery of IC204 of the system
controller can be suspected.
If printed normally, check IC209, IC102, and IC205 through IC207.
5) Printing result is NG
<Countermeasure>
First print the built-in stair-step pattern. The ramp pattern can be used if error
images are caused by the gradation.
If OK : Defect of the interface can be suspected.
Check IC209 and its periphery.
If NG : As the problem most probably lies in IF-687 or PRT-11, check the
service command DRAM.
If OK, the problem may lie in PRT-11 after IF-687, IC105, and
IC106 (or harness)
If NG, the data bus system centering around IC107 and IC108 of IF-
687 is faulty.
