However, if the EMin terminals are left unconnected or the current applied is
<0.5mA the thermometer will use its default emissivity/non greyness setting
shown in the table below.

It is also possible to set the emissivity/non greyness digitally. This is
done using either the bundled IQ series configuration software or using an
appropriate RS485 enabled device sending the thermometer the correct digital
messages (see Appendix A – RS485 communication protocol).
To obtain accurate temperature measurements, the emissivity value of the
target surface must be known. This section of the User Guide contains
typical emissivity values of the most commonly measured materials for each
thermometer variant. Where no emissivity value is quoted, this means that
either the thermometer is not suitable for the measurement application, or the
temperature of the target is outside the thermometer's measurement span. If
